Join Aunties and Uncles Queensland for the opening night screening of On The Basis Of Sex.
The story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, her struggles for equal rights, and what she had to overcome in order to become a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
In this film, the already married Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s enters Harvard Law School in the mid-1950’s. Among the first women to ever study law at Harvard, she knows she’ll have much to do to get noticed. Her early efforts, despite obvious displays of wisdom, are futile. She becomes a fine student, despite the fact that her husband’s battle with cancer is more than a small distraction. When family circumstance requires her to move to New York, she transfers to Columbia Law School, once again shining as a student. Despite her superb credentials upon graduation, she isn’t offered a place in a major law firm, and, somewhat disconsolately, accepts a position as a law professor at Rutgers in New Jersey…
